The Connecticut Urban Forest Council offers two separate grant programs – the Urban Forestry Climate Change Grants Program and the Community Forestry Small Grants Program. Please take note of the differences. Also note that each grant has a separate application process. Applications will only be considered for the grant program for which they have been received.
The Community Forestry Small Grants Program is now closed. Applications must have been received by April 30, 2023.

The Urban Forestry Climate Change Grants Program is currently closed.
The Urban Forestry Climate Change Grants are intended for municipalities or non-profits that seek to complete projects that are based in urban forestry and that combine efforts relating to the local effects of climate change and that include considerations of equity and environmental justice. Preference will be given to environmental justice communities. Funding for this grant program is provided by DEEP through the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.
Grant range: up to $37,000
Eligible organizations: 501(c)3 non-profits and Connecticut municipalities.
Application due date: There are no currently open application dates for the Urban Forestry Climate Change Grants program. We do hope to be able to offer grants through this program in the future. If so, we will be announcing that opportunity on this page.

Please note – the Community Forestry Small Grants will occur in two formats this year. Thes traditional format, known this year as Program B, is intended to assist smaller organizations, including unincorporated community groups, get a footing in urban forestry. This is an annual grant program that is based on funding received from the USDA Forest Service, State and Private Forestry.
Program A will fund grants of the same size as Program B, but focuses specifically on climate change and social equity. Program A projects must also be concluded sooner than Project B projects. Project A projects must be concluded by December 31, 2023 while Project B projects have until March 31, 2024.
